UK Management and Sales Team

From speaking with many UK companies whom have had bad experiences with offshore outsourcing, we found that the vast majority of failures can be traced back to setting expectations, management approach and communications. With a very strong team of UK managers planning and coordinating project delivery (in both the UK and on the ground in India), all of these issues are solidly addressed.

Our customer facing team of sales, marketing and project planning personnel are all European with excellent records of achievement in managing data processing, customer service departments and a broad basket of back office services. This experience brings obvious benefits to every part of the outsourcing task, but it is also married to an ingrained company philosophy in Merit which focuses on pre-empting, and helping our clients to objectively avoid fundamental and strategic choices which could bring expense and frustration.

This philosophy which sits at the forefront of our sales proposition is to be cautiously realistic about what can be achieved in the offshore model and to honestly assess and articulate to the client the risks attendant to outsourcing in every circumstance. Some task are perfect for offshore outsourcing and many more are very suitable but there are also activities which we believe are not suited to the offshore model.

For many offshore outsourcers, the temptation and imperative to make sales targets undermines an ability to offer objective advice to the client at this critical stage. Overselling service deliverables, committing to the impossible and ignoring impediments which are clear to the outsourcer (but which may be unrecognisable by the client) are not unusual occurrences in this industry. In Merit we see the value of sustainable projects and the cost of implementing projects with marginal chances of success, serving our own interest as well as the clients
